Kioni Sailing was founded in 2003 by Nick Athineos with the purchase of KIONI, our Beneteau First 47.7. Taking great care to specify the boat to comply with all our intended activities, Nick traveled to France to watch the hull being cast and ensure a full understanding of the construction techniques employed.
KIONI is berthed at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia but operates charters from public wharfs. The CYCA is a not for profit organization and cannot therefore allow commercial operations to conduct business from their premises.
As KIONI is in NSW Commercial Survey, she is Skippered by qualified Master 5 yachtsmen with deckhand when required.
KIONI engages in many different activities including charter, cruising, racing, adventure Voyages and even Hotel/sleeping facilities.
HOWEVER ……we are most proud of the fact that we have now introduced 214 sailors to their first ocean race. We are also one of the very few professional charter operators that offer the chance for non-sailors to sail on a boat outside the confines of Sydney Harbour. We don’t specifically offer whale watching charters but our customers regularly experience that special moment as a bonus.
